Senior Kotlin Backend Engineer – London

About the role

HCLTech is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with deep Kotlin expertise to join a high‑caliber London front‑office team. You will help build and extend a cloud‑hosted issuance platform that supports real‑time trading for investment banking capital markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Kotlin‑based backend services for a high‑availability issuance platform.
• Collaborate in mob programming sessions, sharing ownership of design and code.
• Apply test‑first development (TDD) and continuous refactoring to ensure clean, maintainable code.
• Support production systems, handling incidents and using them to improve system resilience.
• Deliver incremental features such as sales screens, hedge workflows, and allocation processes.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience building backend services in Kotlin.
• Hands‑on experience with Extreme Programming practices, especially mob programming and TDD.
• Comfort working in regulated, enterprise environments with high availability requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, feedback‑driven development cycle.
