Senior Lawyer – Employment Law

About the role

The Senior Lawyer (Employment) will lead a team delivering high‑quality legal services to council clients. You will combine strategic client insight with hands‑on casework, ensuring complex employment matters are managed efficiently and effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate complex legal documents for employment cases.
• Represent clients at high‑level meetings and conduct advocacy, including cross‑examination of witnesses and experts.
• Manage and develop junior team members, overseeing their professional growth.
• Work with senior colleagues to meet financial targets and stay within budgetary limits.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Fellow of CILEX with litigation rights, or Barrister with a practising certificate authorised to conduct litigation.
• Extensive experience in employment or related litigation.
• Proven track record of handling highly complex legal casework.
• Ability to manage fee‑earner responsibilities on complex matters.
