Senior Learning Coach

About the role

The Senior Learning Coach role at South Thames College is a term‑time only position (36 hours per week over 40 weeks). You will support students aged 16‑25 with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, helping them achieve qualifications, progression opportunities and essential life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Support learners in meeting their individual learning goals and qualifications.
• Assist in planning, delivering and assessing teaching sessions for students with diverse needs.
• Provide one‑to‑one and group support, adapting approaches to changing curriculum demands.
• Source and arrange work‑experience placements for young people with additional needs.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance and outcomes.

Required profile

• Recent experience working with 16‑25 year olds who have a range of learning difficulties.
• Flexibility to respond to curriculum changes and individual student requirements.
• Positive “can‑do” attitude and enthusiastic personality.
• Strong communication skills at all levels.
• High level of computer literacy.
• Experience in a specialist school or college is an advantage.
• Experience sourcing work‑experience placements for students with additional needs is a plus.

Required skills

• Computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office, learning management systems).
• Basic data entry and record‑keeping abilities.
