Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join the legal team of a leading international energy business. The role offers the chance to work on a broad range of commercial and financing matters across energy trading, commodities, derivatives and project finance. You will provide pragmatic, commercially‑focused advice to senior stakeholders in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on energy trading and commodities transactions.
• Draft and review derivatives and structured finance documentation.
• Handle banking and finance matters, including project finance transactions.
• Support commercial contracts and strategic business initiatives.
• Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• 4‑8 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in private practice or in‑house.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one of: energy trading, commodities, derivatives, banking & finance, structured finance/securitisation, or project finance.
• Commercially minded with a pragmatic approach.
• Proactive, energetic and able to work independently.
• Comfortable engaging directly with senior stakeholders and managing multiple priorities.
