Senior Management Accountant

About the role

HSL Compliance, a UK compliance specialist, is hiring a Senior Management Accountant in Ross-on-Wye on a hybrid basis. The role acts as the senior finance lead, supporting the Finance Director and the Effluent Regional Managing Director in delivering financial performance, cash generation, operational efficiency and value creation. It combines commercial finance, business partnering and financial control leadership in a fast-paced private equity-backed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monthly management accounts, month-end reporting packs and timely month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset registers
• Monitor revenue recognition and profitability on a contract-by-contract basis, support annual statutory audits and prepare statutory account schedules
• Lead annual budgeting, own monthly forecasting and reforecasting, run scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis, and monitor performance against budget
• Produce Board reporting packs, develop financial and operational KPIs and improve management information and Power BI reporting
• Partner with operational and commercial teams to improve profitability, identify underperforming contracts and customers, and support pricing reviews and contract negotiations
• Own the weekly 12-week cash flow forecast, drive cash generation and working capital improvements, monitor debtor performance and aged debt, and manage customer credit risk
• Oversee customer invoicing and supplier payments, manage supplier relationships and improve AP and AR processes
• Strengthen internal controls, implement expenditure approval controls, manage VAT returns, and act as primary finance contact for auditors and tax advisers
• Support ERP implementations and upgrades, and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification and minimum 5 years PQE
• Experience in a private equity-backed business
• Strong management accounting and financial control experience, with budgets, forecasts and Board reporting
• Experience managing payroll, AP and AR processes
• Advanced Excel skills, ERP systems and BI reporting tools
• Ability to influence operational stakeholders
• Highly desirable: multi-site business experience, acquisition integration experience, Sage 50 and Power BI experience
