Senior Manager – IT Infrastructure

About the role

Northumberland County Council is looking for a Senior Manager – IT Infrastructure to lead the design, delivery and operation of its enterprise technology estate. The role will shape the long‑term infrastructure strategy that supports public services for thousands of residents across the county.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi‑year IT infrastructure roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee networks, cloud platforms, data centre operations, end‑user computing, and disaster‑recovery services.
• Manage the infrastructure budget and major technology investment programmes.
• Ensure compliance with security, governance and regulatory requirements, including GDPR.
• Monitor service performance, drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Lead, coach and develop high‑performing technical teams.
• Maintain supplier relationships and negotiate contracts with technology partners.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in large‑scale IT infrastructure environments.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Track record of delivering complex transformation projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent communication and people‑management skills.
