Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

About the Role

Join a leading consultancy as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where you will spearhead and support the delivery of complex mechanical building services projects. From initial concept to final completion, you will play a pivotal role in managing diverse projects across multiple retail sites, ensuring excellence in engineering design.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and support the end-to-end delivery of mechanical building services projects, ensuring all milestones are met from concept to handover.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects across various retail locations, maintaining strict adherence to programs, quality standards, and budget constraints.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and key stakeholders, facilitating seamless communication and project alignment.
• Conduct site surveys and participate in technical project meetings to ensure design accuracy and practical feasibility.
• Prepare, review, and finalize high-quality mechanical designs, technical specifications, and comprehensive engineering reports.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams (MEP) both internally and externally to ensure integrated building solutions.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical and delivery challenges to maintain project momentum.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in mechanical building services or mechanical engineering, ideally within the retail or commercial sectors.
• Strong technical background with the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder and contractor management.
• Commitment to adopting new technologies to enhance building performance and sustainability.

Required Skills

• Expert proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
• In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and industry standards.
• Strong MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) coordination expertise.
• Project management and multi-site coordination capabilities.
• Advanced technical reporting and specification writing.
