Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a global engineering business that develops fluid‑management technology. The role is hybrid (2 days remote) and involves taking products from concept through to full manufacture, ensuring they are robust, cost‑effective and meet performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects from initial concept to production release.
• Develop innovative solutions using sound engineering principles and GD&T best practice.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings (Creo preferred).
• Design components suitable for injection moulding, casting and high‑volume manufacture.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, suppliers and cross‑functional teams to optimise designs for production.
• Support testing, validation and continuous product improvement activities.
• Produce technical documentation, reports and engineering calculations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Proven track record delivering products from concept through to manufacture.
• Expert‑level understanding of GD&T and strong Design for Manufacture (DFM) knowledge.
• Extensive experience designing for injection moulding and casting processes.
• Experience creating detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, preferably using Creo.
• Ability to design both metal and plastic components and solve problems from first principles.
• Comfortable collaborating with manufacturing, suppliers and cross‑functional engineering teams.
