Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Machinery Development

About the role

Our client, an established manufacturer in West Sussex, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead machine design projects from concept through to production. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to support customer projects, product development, R&D and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop machinery using SolidWorks, ensuring manufacturability and compliance.
• Create build manuals, user guides, testing procedures and statutory documentation.
• Support R&D and cost‑reduction projects, including equipment testing with customers.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Design, Control & Automation engineers and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in machine design and project ownership.
• Strong understanding of pneumatic systems and packaging/end‑of‑line production environments.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to work collaboratively.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (advanced proficiency).
• Experience with EPDM Vault (advantageous).
