Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Medical Devices (Cambridge)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fast‑growing medical‑devices organisation in Cambridge. You will work alongside electronics, software, and physics specialists to develop life‑saving technologies from concept through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities for new medical devices, covering concept, detailed design and validation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate mechanical, electronic and software components.
• Produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings, primarily using SolidWorks.
• Perform analysis such as fluidics, mechanism design, thermal management and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Ensure designs comply with ISO 13485 and other relevant regulatory standards.
• Support prototyping, testing and iterative design improvements.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (PhD welcomed but not required).
• Experience developing medical devices or products in highly regulated sectors (life sciences, robotics, etc.).
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and influence project outcomes.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (or comparable 3D CAD tool).
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 requirements.
• Fluidics design.
• Mechanism design.
• Thermal analysis.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
