Senior Mechanical Designer – Nuclear Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our nuclear engineering team at Cavendish Nuclear. The role will be based in Warrington, Cheshire or at Westlakes Science Park, Cumbria, offering hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate design tasks and guide a team of designers to ensure high‑quality outputs.
• Lead interdisciplinary coordination to meet regulatory and company standards.
• Prepare and review design drawings, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and project requirements.
• Advise on optimal methods, tools and techniques for design tasks and provide technical support.
• Liaise with customers to develop relationships, resolve technical issues and maintain progress transparency.

Required profile

• Experience working in a detailed mechanical design environment.
• Strong knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawing practices.
• Proven technical leadership within a multi‑discipline design setting.
• HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance.
• Incorporated Engineer status is desirable.

• Understanding of ISO drawing standards.
