Senior Mechanical Engineer (Warship Technical Authority)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Warship Technical Authority (WTA) Service Hub within BAE Systems' Asset Management team. Based at Portsmouth Naval Base, you will work in a hybrid model supporting critical marine platform systems and contributing to the delivery of advanced defence solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support across diverse platform systems, equipment and critical marine services.
• Deliver engineering input to multiple projects, including CSM platforms and international naval programmes.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify and manage platform system requirements.
• Maintain design integrity across varied engineering contexts, classes and programme deployments.
• Support investigations, impact assessments and integration analyses to enable evidence‑based technical decisions.
• Ensure safe, efficient implementation of design changes while maintaining configuration control and system integration.

Required profile

• Broad knowledge of complex platform systems in UK and international markets.
• Understanding of applicable industry standards and ability to work within CSM, LCM and other governance frameworks.
• Professional engineer at CEng level or equivalent capability.
• Proven ability to provide technical guidance, influence and support the development of engineering teams.
