Senior Mechanical Project Engineer – Water Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join Kier’s Thames Water Framework team in East Hyde, Bedfordshire. The role involves delivering high‑quality water supply and treatment infrastructure, ensuring mechanical works meet safety, quality and client specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all mechanical works comply with safety regulations, quality standards and Thames Water specifications.
• Review and approve mechanical design documents and oversee installation of pumps, valves, pipework and HVAC systems.
• Manage the mechanical programme, coordinate subcontractors and monitor progress against project timelines.
• Identify and control changes or variations in mechanical scope through formal change‑control processes.
• Oversee construction, testing, commissioning and hand‑over activities to achieve operational compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the water industry with a BEng, ONC, HNC or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hold a CSCS card, SSSTS certification and Confined Spaces qualification.
• Experience reviewing risk assessments and method statements with strong process‑plant awareness.
• Commercial awareness with ability to manage budgets, costs and variations.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required.
