Senior Mortgage Arrears Specialist

About the role

This senior position sits within the Asset Management team of a specialist lending operation in the City of London. The role focuses on managing mortgage arrears, negotiating repayment solutions and overseeing enforcement actions where necessary.

Key responsibilities

• Lead direct negotiations with borrowers who have defaulted or are nearing the end of their loan term.
• Evaluate borrowers' financial profiles and agree on sustainable payment arrangements.
• Collaborate with brokers and underwriters to develop and execute repayment plans.
• Work with internal legal teams and external solicitors to manage litigation, repossession or LPA receivership processes when restructuring is not feasible.
• Instruct valuers, monitor the condition of secured properties and coordinate with agents to prepare assets for sale.
• Provide management information, loss forecasting and regular reporting to senior leadership and board‑level stakeholders.

Required profile

• Significant experience in lending arrears management, preferably within specialist or high‑value mortgage portfolios.
• Hands‑on approach to property‑related issues and enforcement actions.
• Strong analytical ability to assess financial data and forecast losses.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement at all levels.
