Senior Occupational Therapist – Autism Service (North London)

About the role

Vitalis is recruiting an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Autism Service in North London. The role is based in Harrow and supports both adult and child clients within a local authority social care setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice and support to OT staff, OTAs and Trusted Assessors on casework for adults and children.
• Guide commissioning of adaptations and equipment to promote independence.
• Offer professional advice to Social Care Teams and the Harrow Adaptations and Facilities/Repair Team.
• Deputise for the OT Team Manager and act as Duty Manager when required.
• Chair professional meetings and act as Safeguarding Adults Manager for enquiries.
• Supervise the OT on‑duty, allocate cases by priority and record decisions in the electronic system.
• Manage complex cases, including moving and handling issues, liaising with internal and external partners.
• Provide professional supervision to up to four OTs and Trusted Assessors, and potentially an OT student.
• Conduct joint visits and direct observation of practice, delivering constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Qualified Occupational Therapist with senior‑level experience in adult and autism services.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage complex caseloads.
• Experience working within local authority social care or similar public sector environments.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and commissioning processes.
