Senior Oil Operator

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Oil Operator to join the Operations team of an established oil trading company with assets in Europe. The role is based in either London or Geneva on a 6‑12 month fixed‑term contract and involves managing the end‑to‑end logistics of crude oil and refined product trades.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate trade operations from nomination to delivery, working closely with traders, refinery schedulers and production planners.
• Nominate vessels, issue voyage orders and appoint independent cargo inspectors to ensure quality and quantity compliance.
• Validate pricing, calculate freight, demurrage, insurance and other trade costs, and ensure accurate P&L posting in the trading system.
• Maintain detailed cargo records, file documentation promptly and adhere to HSE standards.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, manage commercial claims (demurrage, quality, quantity, insurance) and support finance with letters of credit and invoice approvals.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior products and shipping operator in oil products, preferably with refinery exposure.
• Strong understanding of chartering processes, ship vetting and ship economics.
• Ability to work closely with traders, risk, credit and finance teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and compliance orientation.
