Senior Payroll Advisor (Hybrid)

About the role

LRG is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to manage payroll for over 3,300 employees across multiple locations. The role combines hands‑on payroll processing with mentorship of junior staff and support for large‑scale projects such as acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Process multiple monthly payrolls accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with HMRC legislation and internal controls.
• Act as the senior point of contact for complex payroll queries, escalations, and statutory matters.
• Collaborate with the Group Payroll Manager, HR Data team and outsourced provider to integrate payrolls after business acquisitions.
• Provide guidance and training to junior payroll staff and support continuous process improvement.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, month‑end/year‑end reporting and analysis of national minimum wage compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a large, multi‑site organisation (3,000+ employees).
• Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, NI, statutory payments and minimum wage rules.
• Proven ability to manage high‑volume, complex payroll environments and lead payroll projects.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables, data analysis and reconciliation).
