Senior Payroll Officer – Not‑for‑Profit

About the role

The Senior Payroll Officer will lead the end‑to‑end payroll function for a small not‑for‑profit organisation in Cranleigh. You will ensure accurate, timely payments while maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Process the full payroll cycle each month, guaranteeing correct payments, deductions, bonuses and benefits.
• Maintain compliance with payroll legislation and statutory reporting obligations.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve payroll queries and discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting, reporting and audit activities.
• Update payroll systems and employee records, ensuring data integrity.
• Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in payroll, preferably within a not‑for‑profit environment.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities with a methodical approach.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with internal and external parties.
