Senior Payroll Officer – Payroll Supervisor – Payroll Manager

About the role

This permanent position is based in Cranleigh and supports a small not‑for‑profit organisation. You will lead the end‑to‑end payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle, guaranteeing on‑time and accurate payments.
• Maintain compliance with all payroll legislation and statutory obligations.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee queries promptly.
• Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting and reporting activities.
• Update payroll systems and keep employee records current.
• Assist with audits and drive continuous improvements to payroll processes.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of payroll systems and processes.
• Experience in a not‑for‑profit payroll environment (preferred).
• Knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
• Methodical, detail‑oriented approach to work.
• Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with payroll software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with payroll system administration.
