Senior Planner / Associate Town Planner

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Planner to join a leading UK property and planning consultancy in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams on high‑profile residential, mixed‑use, retail, leisure, commercial and higher‑education projects across Scotland.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake site appraisals and planning assessments.
• Prepare planning advice notes and strategic recommendations for clients.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals and related documentation.
• Support the development of planning strategies and project programmes.
• Advise clients on development opportunities and asset‑management matters.
• Liaise with local authorities, consultants and key stakeholders.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and fee proposals.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and attend client meetings.

Required profile

• Hold MRTPI and/or MRICS (Planning & Development) accreditation.
• Experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or development environment.
• Strong technical planning knowledge and commercial awareness.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Confident in client‑facing situations and stakeholder engagement.
• Self‑motivated with strong analytical and organisational abilities.
