Senior Planner

About the role

Rolls‑Royce SMR is seeking a Senior Planner to join its Project Management Office. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining integrated project schedules for complex engineering programmes, working across engineering, procurement and construction disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust, integrated schedules covering engineering, procurement and construction phases using bottom‑up estimating and realistic resource profiles.
• Maintain short‑ and long‑term plans aligned with programme governance and update project control data for accuracy and insight.
• Lead planning activities within your scope, providing subject‑matter expertise and supporting decision‑making.
• Coach and mentor junior planners to build team capability.
• Advise the wider business on planning standards, tools and best practice.

Required profile

• Experience in a planning or project controls team within complex programme environments.
• Proven ability to lead planning activities and support day‑to‑day team objectives.
• Background in coaching or mentoring planners at various career stages.
• Understanding of integrated planning approaches such as Master Integrated Plans (MIP/IMS) and milestone logic.
• Exposure to complex engineering or regulated programmes, nuclear experience advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 (schedule build, WBS structures, coding, resource management).
• Practical experience with Earned Value Management, change control and baseline management.
• Familiarity with Master Integrated Plans (MIP/IMS) methodology.
• Qualifications such as APM PMQ (or equivalent) and preferably APM PPC.
