Senior Planning Manager

About the role

The Senior Planning Manager will join a leading construction business unit, working on high‑value private and public sector projects ranging from £20 million to over £300 million. Based on‑site in Gloucestershire with regular visits to the Birmingham regional office, the role drives planning, programme development and delivery strategy for both bids and live projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation and maintenance of project plans, programmes and Planning Reports for large or complex projects.
• Shape pre‑construction and construction methodologies to maximise efficiency and minimise risk.
• Produce regular progress reports, dashboards and status updates for senior leadership.
• Analyse data and lessons learned to anticipate delays, propose mitigations and advise the team.
• Chair weekly planning meetings, coordinate 4D BIM models and manage change proposals, time impacts and compensation events.
• Maintain as‑built data and production rates for future benchmarking.
• Support continuous improvement of planning procedures and processes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in construction planning on multi‑million‑pound projects.
• In‑depth knowledge of the NEC form of contract and practical application of its programme, time and compensation event requirements.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate programme‑related matters to senior stakeholders.
• Eligibility for necessary security clearances.
