Senior Planning Officer – Development Management

About the role

The London Borough of Ealing, a Platinum‑rated authority, is seeking a Senior Planning Officer to join its Development Management team. You will work on a mixed caseload of planning applications, ranging from minor residential proposals to strategic projects, helping shape the borough’s future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of planning applications, including single dwellings, small commercial schemes and major strategic projects.
• Assess planning merits, interpret development plans and produce clear recommendation reports.
• Prepare high‑quality decision notices, handle appeals and contribute to policy and transport strategy development.
• Provide expert advice to stakeholders, ensuring compliance with local and national planning regulations.
• Support the delivery of the council’s ambitious housing targets and the Local Plan at Regulation 19 stage.

Required profile

• Degree accredited by the RTPI or RICS in Town and Country Planning (or equivalent).
• Relevant experience in planning application assessment and decision‑making within a local authority or similar environment.
• Strong written communication skills for report writing and decision notices.
