Senior Plant Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Biogen is seeking a Senior Plant Maintenance Engineer to deputise for the Site Manager and ensure the safe, compliant and efficient operation of its anaerobic digestion facility. You will lead the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system, minimise downtime and support both planned overhauls and reactive repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the PPM programme for critical plant equipment, scheduling and supervising planned shutdowns.
• Prioritise and respond to reactive maintenance requests to limit production disruption.
• Manage maintenance budgets, cost control and resource allocation.
• Oversee compliance with environmental, safety and quality management systems.
• Coordinate weekend rota and on‑call duties, including remote monitoring of the AD process.
• Operate and maintain telehandler equipment and ensure appropriate licensing.

Required profile

• Qualified electrical or mechanical engineer with experience in a process‑industry environment.
• Proven experience in PLC controls, electronics and planned preventive maintenance.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and hold first‑aid certification.
• Full UK driving licence; willingness to obtain a telehandler licence if not already held.
• Strong people‑management skills, self‑motivated and adaptable to changing circumstances.
