Senior Pricing Engineer

About the role

Hastings Direct is a digital insurance provider seeking a Senior Pricing Engineer to strengthen its pricing, data and analytics capabilities. The role is hybrid, based primarily in Leicester with occasional work from London or Bexhill, and focuses on both day‑to‑day pricing operations and strategic implementation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and translate business pricing needs into technical solutions.
• Lead the design, development and optimisation of pricing algorithms using advanced Python coding.
• Manage strategic pricing implementation projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with rating engine development.
• Conduct thorough testing of pricing changes and maintain robust documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior pricing engineers, fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a developer or engineer in a pricing, insurance or data‑driven environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to design efficient, scalable solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to work with business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Leadership qualities and a track record of mentoring junior team members.

Required skills

• Python (advanced coding and algorithm development).
