Senior Process Development Technologist

About the role

Premier Foods is seeking a Senior Process Development Technologist to join its R&D team in Worksop. You will drive innovation across the product portfolio, shaping the long‑term pipeline and translating cutting‑edge ideas into manufacturable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new product and process pathways to improve performance and efficiency.
• Lead and manage cross‑functional projects with R&D, Operations, Engineering and Quality.
• Conduct trials, scale‑up activities and troubleshoot existing manufacturing challenges.
• Explore and implement innovative solutions to enhance consistency, reduce waste and optimise processes.
• Support new factory and production line development opportunities.
• Collaborate with suppliers, universities and external innovation partners.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory and quality standards, including audit readiness.
• Mentor junior team members and share best practices.

Required profile

• Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of processes such as thermal processing, extrusion, baking or agglomeration.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to improve processes.
• Experience working with third‑party manufacturers or suppliers.
• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
