Senior Procurement Manager – Subcontractor Specialist

About the role

The Senior Procurement Manager will lead complex procurement and subcontracting activities across major projects in the UK. You will own end‑to‑end sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation and supplier performance, ensuring alignment with project schedules and commercial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing and subcontract procurement plans.
• Manage the full tender process, from supplier selection to contract award.
• Draft, negotiate and administer subcontract agreements, including JCT, NEC3 and NEC4 terms.
• Lead commercial negotiations to achieve best‑value outcomes.
• Monitor supplier performance and contractual obligations throughout project delivery.
• Support Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier Performance Management initiatives.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Commercial and Planning teams.
• Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance and supply‑chain improvements while ensuring HSSE compliance.
• Mentor and support junior procurement professionals.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing subcontractors in complex, regulated project environments such as construction, infrastructure or defence.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of end‑to‑end sourcing and tendering.
• Ability to draft and negotiate subcontract terms and conditions.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of JCT, NEC3 and/or NEC4 contract frameworks.
• Experience with ERP or procurement management systems.
• Expertise in subcontract management and contract flow‑down requirements.
• MCIPS qualification or progress towards chartered status (desirable).
