Senior Procurement Professional – Infrastructure/Construction (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Procurement Professional to support a leading defence organisation’s major infrastructure and construction programmes in Barrow‑in‑Furness. Working on a six‑month contract in a hybrid model, you will drive sourcing, contracting and supply‑chain activities across complex, highly regulated projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial and supply‑chain support for infrastructure and construction delivery programmes.
• Develop and manage procurement plans aligned with stakeholder and project requirements.
• Lead tender development, evaluation and contract award processes.
• Identify, assess and mitigate procurement risks, issues and commercial liabilities.
• Prepare high‑quality procurement and contract documentation.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
• Contribute to supply‑chain strategy development and implementation.
• Maintain communication and resolve issues throughout the procurement lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with internal governance and external regulatory standards.
• Support bid activity, cost planning and track cost‑saving initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven procurement or supply‑chain experience within the infrastructure or construction sector.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, sourcing strategies and commercial principles.
• Experience managing supplier performance and contractual relationships.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Organisational skills with the capacity to handle multiple priorities.

Required skills

• BPSS and SC security clearance (UK Eyes Only).
• Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC construction contracts (desirable).
