Senior Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Senior Procurement Specialist (Band 6) will lead procurement activities for community and mental health services across multiple NHS Trusts. Working autonomously while supporting the Procurement Business Partner, the role ensures value for money, compliance with legislation and contributes to high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category‑specific procurement strategies, analysing spend trends and market conditions.
• Lead end‑to‑end sourcing events, including specifications, tendering, bid evaluation and contract award.
• Negotiate and manage contracts throughout their lifecycle, monitoring supplier performance and driving continuous improvement.
• Maintain procurement systems and databases, ensuring governance, legal and sustainability requirements are met.
• Engage clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders across Trusts, providing expert advice and influencing adoption of compliant solutions.
• Support service improvement, policy development and capability building through training and coaching.

Required profile

• Significant experience in public‑sector procurement, preferably within the NHS or similar health environment.
• Proven ability to manage complex categories and deliver cost savings.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and project‑management capabilities.
