Senior Product Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer to join a leading product innovation consultancy in London. You will work on cutting‑edge projects across consumer electronics, medical devices and industrial products, turning concepts into production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Translate client briefs into technical requirements, project plans and deliverables.
• Develop inventive and technically robust product concepts.
• Lead product development from ideation through to manufacturing.
• Create high‑quality 3D CAD models (SolidWorks) and detailed engineering documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations, feasibility assessments and risk analyses.
• Specify materials, manufacturing methods, suppliers and technologies.
• Deliver design‑for‑manufacture (DFM) solutions, including tolerances and production‑ready drawings.
• Manage prototypes, testing programmes and technical validation activities.
• Present ideas, technical solutions and project updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Support project delivery, including timelines, budgets and team coordination.

Required profile

• Degree (1st or 2:1) in Product Design Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven experience delivering complex engineering projects to manufacture.

Required skills

• SolidWorks / 3D CAD modelling, including surfacing.
• Engineering calculations, feasibility and risk analysis.
• Design for manufacture (DFM) – tolerances, specifications and production drawings.
• Materials selection and knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., moulding).
• Prototype development, testing and technical validation.
