Senior Programme Manager – Interim Transformation Lead

About the role

This interim position is for a Senior Programme Manager to lead the Projects Service within West Berkshire Council's Transformation, Customer & ICT Department. The role focuses on delivering strategic change programmes and supporting the Council’s priorities during a critical transformation period.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Projects Service, ensuring delivery of key corporate projects.
• Provide strategic advice to senior leadership, the Service Director, Executive Director and elected Members.
• Develop and implement service strategies, policies and improvement initiatives.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team and deputise for the Service Director when required.
• Drive continuous improvement and high‑quality customer outcomes.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in a local authority or public sector environment.
• Extensive experience leading transformation and change programmes.
• Strong programme and project management expertise.
• Proven ability to manage professional teams and deliver strategic objectives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
