Senior Project Accountant

About the role

Marc Daniels is partnering with a fast‑growing business to hire a Senior Project Accountant for its Finance team in Maidenhead. This hands‑on position is responsible for project accounting, revenue recognition, month‑end reporting and maintaining the integrity of project balances across the ledger.

Key responsibilities

• Own monthly revenue recognition on a percentage‑completion basis across all revenue‑generating disciplines.
• Account for work‑in‑progress, accrued and deferred revenue, contract assets and liabilities.
• Reconcile certified and applied values against recognised revenue and explain variances.
• Manage project cost accruals, subcontract accounting, provisions, retentions and related balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Lead the month‑end close for project ledgers, including cut‑off and period‑end adjustments.
• Produce the monthly project summary report covering P&L and balance‑sheet movements.
• Reconcile project ledgers to the general ledger and support statutory reporting.
• Prepare trading results down to gross margin within monthly management accounts and provide commentary on revenue, cost, margin and intercompany balances.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong experience in project accounting and revenue recognition.
• Good knowledge of month‑end processes, reconciliations and management reporting.
• Comfortable working with commercial teams and explaining accounting adjustments.
• Familiarity with FRS 102; awareness of IFRS 15 is an advantage.
