About the role
The British Council’s Arts team is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of the British Pavilion exhibition at the Venice Biennale. You will manage large‑scale exhibitions, coordinate international partners, and oversee the Venice Project team.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute medium‑term strategy and annual business plans for the Biennale and pavilion management.
- Plan, monitor and report on the exhibition and pavilion budgets using British Council systems.
- Lead internal and external staff in the UK and Italy to deliver exhibitions, fellowships and building maintenance on schedule.
- Oversee commissioning, production and delivery of exhibitions, implementing project management tools and clear reporting structures.
- Negotiate partnership contracts and build trust‑based relationships with artists, architects, suppliers and stakeholders in both the UK and Italy.
Required profile
- Proven track record of managing large, complex projects and exhibitions with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience leading large teams in a matrix environment, including formal line‑management responsibilities.
- Background working with artists and/or architects in cultural or exhibition settings.

- Starting salary of £33,904 plus a £3,300 London Market Allowance where applicable.
