Senior Protein Scientist

About the role

SRG is expanding its drug discovery capabilities in Glasgow and is seeking an experienced Senior Protein Scientist to join a leading cancer‑therapy research team. You will work alongside top UK scientists to deliver high‑quality recombinant proteins for multiple discovery programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, express and purify recombinant proteins using bacterial and insect cell systems.
• Perform quality control using biochemical and biophysical techniques.
• Support drug discovery projects by providing technical expertise and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop and optimise protein production processes.
• Document experimental work and communicate results to stakeholders.

Required profile

• PhD in protein science, biochemistry, chemistry or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in a drug discovery or CRO environment is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work independently.

Required skills

• Protein expression in bacterial and insect systems.
• Protein purification using AKTA chromatography.
• PCR, SDS‑PAGE, Western blotting.
• Tissue culture and generation of transgenic cell lines.
