Senior Python Developer – Trading & Risk Platforms

About the role

We are seeking a senior Python developer to join a London‑based team building trading and risk management platforms for a leading financial services firm. The role focuses on designing and implementing backend services, data pipelines and automation tools that support market risk, PnL, trade lifecycle and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Python‑based applications for trading and risk use cases.
• Build data processing pipelines and automation scripts for trade, risk and reconciliation workflows.
• Work with large financial datasets to support PnL, risk and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to system design, architecture and scalability decisions.
• Collaborate with quants, traders and risk teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services using Flask, FastAPI or Django.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and production support (L2/L3).
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests, ensuring high code quality and test coverage.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 6–10 years of professional Python development experience.
• Strong SQL expertise with complex queries on large datasets.
• Hands‑on experience in investment banking or capital markets, particularly in market risk, trade lifecycle or PnL.
• Understanding of financial products such as derivatives, bonds and related risk concepts.
• Experience working in Unix/Linux environments and basic shell scripting.
