Senior QA Engineer – Performance & Scalability

About the role

Chip is seeking a Senior QA Engineer focused on Performance & Scalability. You will champion performance as a first‑class concern across a platform of 30+ microservices, ensuring that latency, throughput and reliability meet defined standards from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Embed performance thinking into delivery plans before code is written.
• Define thresholds, metrics and SLOs that determine pass/fail outcomes.
• Design and execute performance tests for individual services at production scale, stubbing downstream dependencies as needed.
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines to catch regressions early.
• Build reusable, code‑based performance test assets and utilities.
• Diagnose regressions by tracing requests through distributed systems and root‑cause issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, platform and product teams to turn findings into concrete fixes.
• Raise performance and scalability risks early and influence design decisions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in performance engineering with a proven track record of owning performance for complex, modern systems.
• Deep expertise in performance testing methodologies and tools.
• Strong ability to work autonomously and drive outcomes across multiple teams.
