Senior QC Analyst

About the role

Smart4 Sciences is partnering with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in St. Albans to hire a Senior QC Analyst. You will join a collaborative quality control team responsible for ensuring raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products meet the highest GMP and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing on raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products.
• Operate and troubleshoot HPLC, Karl Fischer titration, dissolution and other analytical equipment.
• Carry out physical testing of tablets, capsules and packaging materials.
• Prepare, review and check analytical data prior to approval.
• Peer‑review laboratory documentation and analytical results.
• Support the review and update of SOPs, specifications and analytical procedures.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, data integrity and good documentation practices.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, reference standards and consumables.
• Support investigations of analytical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Complete allocated training and maintain competency across analytical techniques.

Required profile

• Degree, diploma or certificate in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Medical Laboratory Science or a related scientific discipline.
• Previous experience working within a pharmaceutical QC laboratory.
• Strong understanding of GMP, data integrity and good documentation practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with HPLC analysis.
• Experience with Karl Fischer titration and dissolution testing.
• Familiarity with physical testing of pharmaceutical dosage forms.
• Use of laboratory instrumentation and analytical software such as Agilent HPLC systems and OpenLab.
