Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering (£70‑85k)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor on a £70 million project on the outskirts of Glasgow. The role involves managing contract administration, risk, and negotiations to achieve profitability and cash‑flow targets.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate and liaise with system subcontractors
• Advise on contractual issues and ensure commercial compliance
• Report subcontract status to the Commercial Manager
• Assist senior staff with pricing variations, including mechanical and electrical scopes
• Control costs and support monthly project cost and progress reports
• Provide support for subcontract lifecycles, procurement, tendering, variations and work‑package management
• Measure quantities and prepare monthly financial statements of anticipated final accounts
• Assist with monthly work‑in‑progress reports alongside the Project Manager
• Manage delegated resources such as budgets, equipment and contracts to ensure value for money
• Comply with client and corporate policies on equality, sustainability, health & safety and data protection

Required profile

• Minimum BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• Previous experience with NEC contracts (NEC3 or NEC4 option C)
• Strong negotiation and presentation abilities
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and pay attention to detail
• Excellent time‑management, organisational and problem‑solving skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
