Senior Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Build Project

About the role

NG Bailey is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a commercial build project in Reading. You will be responsible for ensuring safety, contractual compliance and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a safety‑first culture across all project activities.
• Ensure compliance with legal, company policies and contractual obligations.
• Interpret contract terms, manage risks and opportunities, and mitigate or enhance them commercially.
• Identify contractual changes and maintain accurate records to maximise entitlements.
• Communicate risk and contract status to operational teams and monitor project progress.
• Prepare, submit and recover payments for variations and compensation.
• Support sub‑contract account management through to final settlement.
• Provide accurate internal reporting and ensure timely delivery of project reports, certificates and applications.
• Negotiate and settle the final project account with the client.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) background.
• A degree/HNC level qualification or equivalent significant experience.
• Experience in change and sub‑contract management.
• Good understanding of NEC3/4 contracts (desirable).
• Ability to obtain Security Clearance.
