Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Kier is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its KierBAM joint‑venture team on a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. The role involves managing the financial side of large‑scale construction projects, ensuring value for money while meeting contractual and quality standards. You will work three days on‑site each week with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cost planning and financial control throughout the project lifecycle, preparing detailed estimates and forecasting final costs.
• Review and negotiate contracts, variations and sub‑contracts with attention to detail.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers and other professionals in a supportive environment.
• Mentor junior quantity surveyors, sharing expertise and supporting their professional development.
• Prepare financial reports and cost analyses that clearly communicate project status to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field with professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB).
• Strong experience in quantity surveying on construction or infrastructure projects and a collaborative problem‑solving approach.
• Excellent communication skills, balancing detailed analytical work with relationship building.
