Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major Energy Transmission Project

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Energy division of a leading infrastructure contractor on a £300m+ transmission scheme in the South East of England. The role will be site‑based (Enfield, Hoddesdon or Bishops Stortford) four days a week and offers the chance to shape the commercial framework from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Full commercial management of a defined package of works from inception to final account.
• Prepare valuations, payment applications and provide contractual substantiation.
• Produce cost reports for the client in line with NEC contract requirements.
• Administer subcontractor and supplier accounts, including interim and final payments.
• Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules and maintain change control registers.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities, value‑engineering and change.
• Allocate and code costs accurately for internal and external reporting.
• Measure works using standard methods of measurement and ensure site teams follow commercial procedures.

Required profile

• HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large‑scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects, preferably at senior level.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC4 Option C preferred).
• Background in civil engineering, energy, utilities or major construction projects.
• Membership of RICS or ICES, or active progression towards membership.
