Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major NETPark Project

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Durham County Council NETPark team, delivering the third phase of a £61 million expansion at one of the UK’s leading science and technology parks. The role is based in Sedgefield/Hebburn and offers a 40‑hour week with some flexibility.
Key responsibilities
- Manage payment applications from sub‑contractors and prepare client applications.
- Negotiate with the supply chain to achieve best value and award work packages.
- Monitor actual expenditure against budgets using Cost Value Reconciliation reports.
- Ensure all variations are properly costed and logged in line with contract conditions.
- Mentor and support junior commercial staff.
Required profile
- Proven experience on commercial construction projects, familiar with NEC and JCT contracts.
- Delivered projects ranging from £20 M to £100 M within a main contracting organisation.
- Relevant degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying.
- Confident in dealing with client representatives, sub‑contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Full driving licence.
