Senior Quantity Surveyor – Up to £65,000 + Car Allowance

About the role

Our client, a leading North West main contractor, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Preston. You will take full commercial responsibility for multiple construction projects from pre‑construction through to final account, working closely with the Commercial Director and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Full commercial management of construction projects from award to completion.
• Prepare and manage Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
• Procure and manage subcontractor packages.
• Negotiate and appoint subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and submit interim applications for payment.
• Agree variations and oversee change control procedures.
• Forecast and monitor cash flow.
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities.
• Prepare and agree final accounts.
• Produce accurate monthly commercial reports.
• Drive value‑engineering and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Support and mentor junior commercial staff.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
• 15‑20 years’ Quantity Surveying experience within a main‑contracting environment.
• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from pre‑construction to final account.
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Strong reporting and forecasting capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
