Senior Radiation Protection Consultant

About the role

Cavendish Nuclear is seeking a Senior Radiation Protection Consultant to join its specialist team across multiple UK sites. You will act as the Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) on a major defence programme, providing expert guidance on radiological safety and ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver competent advice on radiological safety and ensure legislative compliance.
• Work with multi‑discipline teams to design processes and plant that are demonstrably ALARP.
• Produce and maintain radiological protection documentation, including dose assessments, zoning, risk assessments and operating instructions.
• Contribute to project scheduling, defining deliverables, estimating resources, time and cost.
• Interface with client sites and Safety Case personnel as a technical expert.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a radiation protection role, preferably as an RPA.
• Ability to lead technical teams and collaborate with diverse engineering disciplines.
• Experience with safety case development and interfacing with regulatory bodies is desirable.
• Background in designing new processes or facilities within a nuclear or defence environment is a plus.
