Senior R&D Lead – Healthcare AI

About the role

IC24’s CLEO Systems is seeking a Senior R&D Lead to drive the design, proof‑of‑concept and integration of cutting‑edge optimisation and artificial‑intelligence solutions that improve patient care and streamline healthcare workflows. Working closely with the Managing Director, Medical Director and product leads, you will translate clinical and operational requirements into secure, scalable AI‑driven features.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end development of AI and optimisation tools for integrated urgent care and back‑office processes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, partners and customers to define requirements and validate prototypes.
• Design and implement robust, secure backend components that can be integrated with existing CLEO Systems platforms or delivered as standalone services.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and maintain high quality, performance and reliability of delivered solutions.
• Contribute to the company’s strategic growth by identifying emerging technologies and proposing innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading R&D or engineering teams in a technical or healthcare environment.
• Strong track record of delivering AI‑driven products from concept to production.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with senior clinical and technical stakeholders.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo DBS checks and provide references.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of artificial‑intelligence and optimisation techniques.
• Proficiency in designing secure, scalable backend architectures.
• Experience with healthcare software integration and data standards.
