Senior Recreation Assistant

About the role

GLL is seeking a Senior Recreation Assistant to lead the team at Chipping Norton Leisure Centre. You will act as a mentor and role model for multi‑skilled leisure assistants, ensuring high standards of safety, cleanliness and customer service across the pool and wider leisure facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support the lifeguard team, including regular pool rotations.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the pool area and surrounding leisure spaces.
• Prepare studios, gyms and sports halls for a variety of activities.
• Handle customer queries and deliver first‑class service.
• Carry out routine facility maintenance and equipment set‑up.

Required profile

• Can‑do attitude with a strong focus on customer service.
• Excellent communication and social skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and act responsibly.
• Willingness to attend regular health‑and‑safety training.
• Commitment to teamwork and a conscientious work ethic.

Required skills

• Relevant qualifications such as NPLQ, Fitness Instructor, Pool Plant or Sports Coaching (or willingness to obtain them).
