Senior Researcher (Chemistry)

About the role
Applications are invited for a Senior Researcher to join the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford, working under the supervision of Professor Andrew Goodwin on the Royal Society Faraday Discovery Fellowship project “Responsive Disorder”. The appointment is for up to five years and offers the opportunity to lead original research and develop team‑management experience.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the professor in managing the research project and the broader Faraday Discovery Fellowship team.
- Conduct independent research on responsive disorder in functional materials.
- Supervise and mentor researchers within the project team on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners and contribute to large collaborative programmes.
Required profile
- PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject with post‑qualification research experience demonstrating independence.
- Strong publication record appropriate to early‑career stage.
- Expertise in advanced diffraction methods applied to complex ordering phenomena and external stimuli.
- Experience developing independent research ideas and leading high‑quality projects.
- Ability to work effectively within large multidisciplinary collaborations.
