About the role
Join the team at Carraig View, a residential home on the edge of Port Glasgow with stunning views across the Firth of Clyde. As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker (Lead Practitioner) you will create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children and young people feel valued and supported to reach their potential.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate shifts, ensuring smooth operation of the service.
- Support colleagues to deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed care.
- Make confident decisions that promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Develop, review and maintain assessments, care plans and risk assessments.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children, young people and families.
- Create opportunities for fun, learning and meaningful experiences.
- Collaborate with external professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
Required profile
- Experienced childcare practitioner passionate about leading a shift and developing the team.
- Understanding of relationship‑based and trauma‑informed practice.
- Resilient, calm under pressure and strong decision‑making skills.
- Ability to support and develop colleagues in a collaborative environment.
- Commitment to helping children and young people achieve their potential.
Required skills
- Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
- Minimum qualification of HNC Social Care and SVQ Level 3 (or attainment within registration period).
- Full manual driving licence.
- PVG Scheme membership.
