Senior Residential Support Worker – Children’s Care

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position offers the chance to lead a shift within a well‑established children’s residential care home in Stockton‑on‑Tees. You will help create a safe, therapeutic environment where vulnerable young people can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Lead shifts and support the day‑to‑day running of the home.
• Coach and mentor Residential Support Workers.
• Deliver high‑quality, child‑centred care tailored to individual needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Promote education, independence, life‑skills and personal development.
• Use therapeutic and restorative approaches to encourage positive behaviour.
• Maintain safeguarding as a core focus of all practice.
• Accurately record reports and care documentation.
• Collaborate with families, schools, social workers and other professionals.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and quality standards.
• Participate in sleep‑ins and flexible shift patterns as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience in a children’s residential care setting.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilient, calm and able to work effectively under pressure.
• Flexible approach to shifts, weekends and sleep‑ins.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
