Senior Residential Support Worker – Children's Home

About the role

Make a positive difference every day in a respected children’s residential care home. The Senior Residential Support Worker supports the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, leads shifts and guides the care team to deliver safe, therapeutic, child‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead shifts to ensure high‑quality, child‑focused care.
• Coach and support Residential Support Workers, acting as a role model.
• Build trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Implement and review care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
• Maintain accurate records in line with regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate children’s access to education, healthcare, family contact and community activities.
• Collaborate with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and partner agencies.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and promote the welfare of every child.

Required profile

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve within required timescales).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting.
• Experience leading shifts or supervising staff.
• Good knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
• Experience maintaining care plans, risk assessments and accurate records.
• Strong communication, leadership and organisational abilities.
